Nihan has over 15 years of experience in all fields of intellectual property law, data protection law, regulatory law and corporate law. Before joining Polat & Partners she worked at local boutique firms and since 2014 she has been working as the in house general counsel for Turkmen Group, one of the leading industrial groups. In 2016, her legal team were named in the Legal 500 - GC Power list-Turkey Teams. Nihan is a registered trademark attorney and heads up our firm’s IP law, Data Protection Law, Regulatory law practices.
Acting as a registered trademark attorney, she gives advice on and files trademark/industrial design applications both in Turkey and member countries to Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol; and manages oppositions via local colleagues.
She advises on and makes voluntary registrations of copyrights before Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Turkey).
In connection with the above, she undertakes dispute resolution arising from trademark and copyright infringements. She also litigates matters involving trade secrets and unfair competition claims, false advertising and Intellectual Property transfers.
She advises on data protection and privacy law with a view to secure compliance of her clients with the Law on Protection of Personal Data (“Law”) which was enacted on March 24, 2016 and published on the Official Gazette on April 07, 2016.
